Man posing as home buyer steals cash from victims

YUMA, Ariz. – The Yuma Police Department said a man is posing as a home buyer to gain access into homes and steal cash from unsuspecting victims. YPD says the man calls himself “Sam”. Reports say  “Sam” will ask to look inside a home that is for sale and take pictures to show he is interested.  “Sam” then takes a purse or wallet that may be sitting on a counter, goes into the bathroom where he takes the money and leaves the item.  This has occurred in the 2000 Block of Coyote Avenue and at 3300 S. Eighth Ave., Westward Mobile Home Park.

“Sam” is identified as a Hispanic male, 25-35 years old.  He is approximately 5’ 8” to 6’ tall with brown hair and brown eyes.  He is also described as being clean cut with a medium build.

YPD  would like to remind people to not leave purses or wallets out in the open if showing a home that is for sale.  Be cautious of people you may show your house to and it is advised to not leave them alone if you have anything of value in the residence.

The Yuma Police Department encourages anyone with any information about these cases to please call the Yuma Police department at (928) 373-4700 or 78-Crime at (928) 782-7463 to remain anonymous.
