WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court appears divided over Obama administration programs that could affect millions of people who are in the country illegally.

The administration’s best hope for a favorable ruling after 90 minutes of arguments at the high court Monday appeared to rest with Chief Justice John Roberts. Roberts asked questions suggesting he could side with the administration if there is a small change in the proposed programs.

The administration is asking the justices to allow it to put in place two programs that could shield roughly 4 million people from deportation and make them eligible to work in the United States.

Texas is leading 26 states dominated by Republicans in challenging the programs President Barack Obama announced in 2014 and that have been put on hold by lower courts.

PHOENIX (AP) – The speaker of the Arizona House of Representatives has allowed journalists who refused to submit to extensive background checks back on to the floor of the chamber amid pressure from lawmakers and the public over the sudden shift in decades-old policy.

The announcement Tuesday came five days after Republican House Speaker David Gowan banned reporters who refused to comply with new security rules requiring extensive criminal and civil background checks.

Journalists covered House floor sessions from the public gallery area in the meantime but lost access to lawmakers.

Gowan spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham says Gowan came up with a compromise. Reporters will now have to sign in with the chief clerk to get floor access, but their pass cards allowing free entry remain disabled.

ARIZONA CITY, Ariz. (AP) – A Casa Grande man missing since last month has been found dead in desert south of Arizona City.

Pinal County Sheriff’s officials say a helicopter discovered the body of 63-year-old Johnny Meier just before noon Wednesday.

They say there’s no sign of foul play in the death and it appears that Meier succumbed to the elements.

Authorities say Meier suffered from dementia and hadn’t been seen since he left his home on March 24.

Meier reportedly told neighbors he was going to go four-wheeling at Casa Grande Mountain

His truck was located Sunday near Arizona City and sheriff’s officials say the body was found about 2 ½ miles from the vehicle.

Authorities say it appears Meier’s vehicle broke down.

The county medical examiner’s office will assist in the death investigation.

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) – A widely seen video last week showed two suspected drug smugglers rapidly climbing a border fence into Arizona as three Border Patrol vehicles stood nearby, raising questions about when and how agents are supposed to respond.

The video was captured by a Mexican journalist who happened to be reporting from Nogales, Arizona. A different video captured on an infrared camera by the Border Patrol reveals that the agency was watching the men even before they got to the fence.

Assistant Chief Fernando Grijalva says agents were at a tactical disadvantage and did the right thing by not responding to the incident because of the danger it posed to the reporter, cameraman and others around. Grijalva, of the Tucson Sector, says border climbers are a common occurrence and that agents have to consider their surroundings when responding.

Yuma, Ariz. – The traveling doctor sentenced to three years in prison for filming women during gynecological exams at YRMC is now heading to trial.

David Lincoln Thorson was sentenced last July on six counts of secretly photographing women in January of 2010.

Two women not involved in that sentencing have since been included in this case.

YRMC has said Thorson was not employed by the hospital, but instead, only provided services through a temp agency, Southwest Emergency Physicians.

That agency, along with YRMC and Vista Staffing Solutions out of Salt Lake City, Utah are also accused of failing to determine Thorson was properly licensed.

Scuba diving as a way to release some stress? http://yourtvfamily.com/scuba-diving-as-a-way-to-release-some-stress/ http://yourtvfamily.com/scuba-diving-as-a-way-to-release-some-stress/#comments Tue, 05 Apr 2016 00:15:48 +0000 http://kyma.com/?p=15607 YUMA, Ariz.-  Shawn Foster of Arizona Scuba Shack says a great way to release some stress is to go scuba diving.

Before you plan a trip you need to be certified which you can easily do at Arizona Western College or Arizona Scuba Shack. The class will take on average three weekends and will cost you about $300 dollars.

Foster says, he starts off slow and at the end generally a trip to San Diego or Senators Wash is planned.

“We are in the pool and we have to do four dives for certification, so we usually go to San Diego and get away for the weekend and we get to see some life in San Diego,” said Foster.

The biggest reason Foster recommends scuba is the stress relieve.

“It’s also a great stress reliever with this busy life this day and age there is no cell phones, no kids. There is nothing under water that can really distract us from our everyday at work so we can just shut out everything at its finest,” said Foster.

YUMA, Ariz. – Jectors Too on 24th street a popular burrito restaurant in Yuma was robbed at gunpoint on Tuesday.

The suspect is still on the loose, but Police have released a photo and description for the man accused.

“The suspect is described as a Hispanic male between 16 and 18 years old 5 foot 5 inches with a thin build. He was wearing a Diamondback ball cap with a grey shirt and black shorts with black socks pulled up very high,” said Joe Franklin of Yuma Police Department.

The restaurant is family owned and employees say the robber came in and made an order then refused to pay and handed a note asking for money. The cashier at first thought the man was joking, but then he showed her a gun.

“He showed her a gun down on his left pocket, so that’s when the cashier gave him all the money that was in the cash register,” said Jesus Garcia owner of Jectors.

Garcia says he is angry at people who choose to rob and take from his family’s hard earned money instead of working for it.

“They take the easy way out instead of going to work like us waking up early morning. They just decide to grab a gun and demand for money that’s not right,” said Garcia.

The Yuma Police Department encourages anyone with any information about these incidents to please call the Yuma Police Department at (928) 373-4700 or 78-Crime.
